The Successful Poker Career of Tony Guoga

Tony Guoga had many achievements as a child and he always had the potential to become a professional poker player. When he was still young, nobody contested the fact that he could be a professional poker player someday. Most people who knew him even thought that he would not have a hard time entering the field of professional poker.

Born in Kaunas, Lithuania on December 17, 1973, Tony Guoga was once known as the Rubik's Cube champion of the country where he was born. When he was eleven years old, he and his family moved to Melbourne, Australia. It was where he was introduced to the game of poker. His exceptional skills prompted him to play poker at casinos even though he was still a minor. Of course, just like what other professional poker players used to do, Tony Guoga also experienced lying about his age just so he could compete with other poker players.

Unfortunately, Tony Guoga did not experience the so-called "beginner's luck" when he began visiting casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada. He experienced losing hundreds and hundreds of dollars but such experience did not become a hindrance to his dream of becoming a professional poker player. Instead, he exerted more effort in improving his skills. He decided to hone his skills at the Victoria Casino in Europe so that he could participate in games and online plays that were smaller than those played in Las Vegas casinos.

After practicing and honing his poker skills very hard, Tony Guoga knew in 2001 that he was ready to face poker giants already. It was during this year that he experienced earning US$7,500 on a monthly basis just by playing poker. It was also during this time that he began to confidently participate in major poker tournaments.

Born Antanas Guoga, Tony Guoga's first taste of victory was in 2003 when he placed fifth at the Grand Prix de Paris event of the World Poker Tour. In June of the same year, Tony Guoga also participated successfully in back-to-back poker tournaments held in Russia. In such tournaments, he was able to win approximately US$20,000.

Tony Guoga has participated in several World Series of Poker events too. As a matter of fact, he has had eleven money finishes already. This professional poker player has also joined other poker tournaments and events successfully, including the Intercontinental Poker Championship and the Betfair Asian Poker Tour.

Tony Guoga has a different style in playing poker. He is talkative and likes to crack jokes in front of his opponents. According to him, such behavior is effective most especially when he competes against Europeans. But then, no matter how irritating he can be at poker tables, his fellow professional poker players say that he is very friendly when he is not in front of opponents.
